About

CIGAR & CEDAR is an international editorial publication about premium cigars: the makers, the regions, the leaf, the rituals and the culture around them. It is a publication of VAUDERIVE, the Swiss luxury group.

The name states the editorial philosophy. The Cigar is the object: the tobacco, the blend, the hands that roll it, the houses that stand behind it. The Cedar is the world around it: the humidor, the lounge, the herf, the collectors, the auctions and the long culture of taking time.

What we cover

The leaf: tobacco agriculture, the growing regions and the harvests. The makers: the great houses, the torcedores, the blenders, the new generation. The ritual: cutting, lighting, the herf, the etiquette of the lounge. The lounge: great rooms, the third place, the year's gatherings. The vintage: aging, collecting, the market. And the record of it all: our annual State of the Leaf survey and the Golden Band judging.

What we do not cover

We are not a retailer and we do not sell cigars. We do not publish scores as editorial habit: outside the Golden Band, our judged annual ranking, we do not rate cigars. We do not present cigars as investments and we never promise appreciation.

How we work

Knowledge comes before spectacle. We research every story, verify factual claims against authoritative sources, and never invent blend details, origins, prices, awards, tasting notes or visit claims. Where a fact cannot be verified, we qualify it or we do not publish it. We never allow a maker providing photography or press information to turn an article into promotional copy. We do not claim to have visited a place, tasted a cigar or met a maker unless it is true.

Photography is central to the publication. For named cigars, makers, factories and lounges we use real photography, credited, and we respect the licensing terms attached to it. We do not use generative imagery as documentary photography of real places or products.

Commercial independence

Editorial selections are made on merit. Advertising, sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always identified as such. The Cedar Selection, our curated selection of remarkable cigars, humidors and tools, is an editorial feature, not a shop: CIGAR & CEDAR does not sell products. Coverage and rankings are never for sale.
