Copyright & Takedowns

Our position
Cigar & Cedar is an editorial publication and we take intellectual property seriously. We use real photography of real subjects, we credit photographers and image suppliers on the article page, and we never claim to have created work that belongs to someone else. If we publish something that belongs to you, we want to know about it and we will put it right.
Designated contact
Reports of infringement, takedown notices and counter-notices should be sent to the publication's designated copyright contact. Contact details will be published here once the mailbox is live.
Reporting infringement
A complete notice helps us act without delay. Please include:
- Your name, postal address, email address and a way to reach you promptly.
- The copyrighted work you believe has been infringed, or a representative list if several works are involved.
- The exact page URL on cigarandcedar.com where the material appears, with a description that lets us find it without doubt.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
When we receive a notice that meets these requirements we review it promptly and, where the claim is valid, we remove or disable access to the material without undue delay. Where appropriate we may instead credit the source or substitute licensed imagery. Repeated, unsubstantiated notices may be disregarded.
Counter-notice
If material of yours was removed or disabled because of a notice, and you believe the removal was a mistake or that you are authorized to use the material, you may send a counter-notice to the same designated contact. It should include your name and contact details, the URL of the material that was removed, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the removal was the result of mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction of your local courts for any action by the complaining party, and your signature.
On receiving a valid counter-notice we restore the material unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain it.
Photography
Most photography on Cigar & Cedar is licensed from photographers, makers, manufacturers and their press offices, credited on the article page. If you are a photographer or rights holder and you believe your work appears here without proper permission or credit, contact the publication through the channels above and we will resolve it directly with you, including a proper credit where the use is licensed.
